1) USAWC Research Assistant Opportunity

The U.S. Army War College’s Strategic Studies Institute is soliciting  qualified individuals to conduct derivative research and analysis; provide draft written reports, briefings, and other research-related products as required; coordinate with research partners and sponsors from within the U.S. Army, other DoD and U.S. Government organizations, and think-tanks. The research will be derived from USAWC student-supported, faculty-led Integrated Research Project teams. Data and information used in the development of the research projects and/or publications will relate to international relations, US security policy, national policy formulation, civil-military relations, defense policy, national military strategy, force management and theater-level or higher military operations. The researcher will:

·         Coordinate the IRP team’s travel and meeting requirements with external organizations and individuals;

·         Conduct archival research and current literature searches; perform specialized searches to provide written or oral synopses of the information available and suggest further searches. Such searches involve use of basic research methods and techniques (e.g. bibliographic surveys, specialized library research, historical document research, contacting US government agencies and/or international agencies for information, etc.);

·         Conduct initial review and editing of all draft reports and briefings, and provide the IRP team leads with the review of written products produced by the IRP team members and the development of the IRP final reports and recommendations.

2) Research Associate: Policy, Responsible Innovation & the future of AI
The Leverhulme Centre for the Future of Intelligence (CFI) is currently recruiting for a postdoctoral Research Associate to join our project ‘Policy, Responsible Innovation and the Future of AI'<>. The appointment will be for 3 years, and is based in the University of Cambridge. We’re looking for someone with a PhD in a relevant field (or equivalent experience in a relevant setting), who can provide strong evidence of potential for research and publication at the highest level, as well as interest in engagement with policy and technology communities. Relevant fields include: Science and Technology Studies; Public Policy; Political Science; Computer Science; Economics; Law. This is a fantastic opportunity to join us as we build an exciting new interdisciplinary research centre addressing the challenges and opportunities posed by artificial intelligence (AI). Funded by the Leverhulme Trust, CFI is based at the University of Cambridge, with partners in the University of Oxford, Imperial College, and UC Berkeley, and close links with industry partners and policymakers.

With the Women’s March to Trump’s calls for reviving the foreign aid rule banning groups that give abortion advice, the socio-political environment for women and gender rights are rocky to say the least.
